How Food Share works
It started with a friend moving house and a pantry full of open packages the food bank couldn't take — crackers, pasta, jars of pickles, spices. Offered to neighbours instead, everything was gone within a day. That became the Collingwood & Wasaga Beach Food Share: hundreds of neighbours keeping good food out of the garbage and helping folks who can use it.
This site is the same idea, open to everyone — no Facebook account needed.
Post what you have
Extra pantry items, garden vegetables, leftovers from an event, things a food bank can't take because they're open. Snap a photo, write a line or two, done.
Neighbours reply
Anyone interested replies on your post and you arrange a pickup time and spot together, just like Marketplace.
Hand it over
Porch pickup works great. Mark the post “Spoken for” when someone claims it, and “Picked up” once it's gone — that takes it down.
A few ground rules
- Everything is free. No selling, no trades expected.
- Only share food you'd serve your own family — edible and honestly described. Note best-before dates; shelf-stable items a little past their date (pasta, peanut butter) are usually fine, and it's the taker's call.
- Be kind and reliable. If you claim something, pick it up.
- Perishables need extra care — keep cold things cold and mention how they've been stored.
Give. Share. Help others.
